Guide for visiting hunters
What you need to hunt in Hungary, and what we arrange for you — from booking to taking your trophy home.
At a glance
As an international guest, you do not need a Hungarian hunting licence, but rather a hunting permit from the Hungarian National Chamber of Hunters (OMVK). The hunting association arranges this for you. All you need to do is agree on dates, send us your details, and bring your firearm and documents.
Step by step
- Enquiry and dates. In the form , tell us what you would like to hunt, when and how many people will be coming. We will confirm the dates and arrangements.
- Contract. Hunting takes place under a guest hunting contract issued by the association. This is required for the hunting permit and, for guests residing in the European Union, for firearms documentation.
- Providing your details. You only need to provide the information required for the permit and contract once, on the registration form. If you wish, we can keep it on file for your next hunt.
- Hunting permit. The hunting association submits the application electronically to the Hungarian Chamber of Hunters (OMVK), together with hunting liability insurance. We will also send you the issued permit as a PDF in your language (German, English, Italian or Slovak); carry it with you while hunting, printed or on your phone.
- Travel and firearms. Guests residing in the European Union may bring their firearms with a European Firearms Pass. Guests arriving from outside the EU need a firearms accompanying certificate issued on entry.
- The hunt. On the agreed dates, you will hunt with a local guide from the association. The guide speaks Hungarian and German. In the field, the “Where am I?” map on your phone shows which part of the hunting area you are in.
- Trophy assessment and settlement. The trophy is assessed 24 hours after boiling and cleaning (≈ €19 / HUF 7,000 per trophy). The fee is based on the assessed weight and the published price list .
- Taking your trophy home. We will discuss trophy transport and the necessary paperwork before the hunt.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to pass a Hungarian hunting exam or obtain a Hungarian hunting licence?
No. Foreign guests need a hunting permit issued by OMVK, which the association arranges. You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid hunting licence in your home country.
How far in advance should I send my details?
As early as possible, but at least a few days before the hunt, so that the permit can be issued in time.
What happens if the hunt is cancelled?
The fee for an already issued hunting permit is non-refundable. We therefore apply for the permit only once the dates are final.
What language does the guide speak?
Hungarian and German.
Where is the hunting area?
Near Tárkány in Komárom-Esztergom County, 20 km from Komárom and 30 km from Győr. You can find the map of the hunting area on the home page.
